Working together
Marina Paulenka is an independent curator and educator. She works with museums, festivals, fairs, galleries, collectors and artists, and teaches at art academies across Europe. She founded Organ Vida, directed Unseen Amsterdam and built the exhibition programme at Fotografiska Berlin. That gives her a view of the art world from the institution, the market, the studio and the classroom.
For institutions and festivals
Curating exhibitions, festival editions and commissioned projects, from concept and artist selection to publication and public programme. Artistic direction and strategy for organisations that are defining a long-term vision, launching new formats or building international partnerships.
For collectors
Advice for private and corporate collections on building and refining a collection of photography and lens-based art. This covers research on artists and acquisitions, with particular depth in practices from Africa, Asia, Latin America and their diasporas. It also covers commissioning, loans and presenting a collection to the public. All collection work is handled in confidence.
For fairs and galleries
Drawing on her time as Artistic Director of Unseen Amsterdam, Marina advises fairs and galleries on curated sectors and special projects, talks and public programmes, exhibitor and artist selection, and reaching new international audiences and collectors.
For artists
One-to-one mentoring on a body of work and where it could go next, whether toward an exhibition, a book or a long-term research project.
Teaching and talks
Marina teaches at art academies including the Royal Academy of Art The Hague, ECAL, UdK Berlin and Zurich University of the Arts. She is available for workshops, lectures, keynotes, and jury and nomination work for academies, festivals and prizes.
